Ronald McDonald Families Room will celebrate its first birthday

Las Vegas, NV, March 28, 2017–

WHAT:     The Ronald McDonald Family Room® at Sunrise Children’s Hospital celebrates one year of keeping families closer than ever before. This room provides families with a comfortable and supportive space to sleep, eat, rest, and recharge with the reassurance of being only steps away from their child’s bedside.

WHERE:   Sunrise Children’s Hosptial – 3186 Maryland Parkway, Suite 200 | Las Vegas, NV 89109

WHEN:    Tuesday, April 4, 2017 | 12pm

WHY:       Family is the best medicine of all for any sick or injured child. Since the opening of the Family Room in March of 2016, there have been more than 8,000 visits by families who were able to stay close to their children when it matters most.

Join Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Las Vegas and Sunrise Children’s Hospital staff, volunteers, and supporters in celebrating the one year anniversary of the Ronald McDonald Family Room®. A family will share their testimony about how much this special place of respite meant to them during some of the most difficult days of their lives.

“We hear every day from the moms and dads who use this Family Room what a gift this place of rest and comfort is to them,” said Executive Director, Alyson McCarthy. “Often times, it provides the much needed break they need to remain strong for their little ones.”

The Ronald McDonald Family Room® would not be possible without the generous in-kind donation of 1300 square feet of space at Sunrise Children’s Hospital. In addition, thank you to our generous sponsors who made the completion of this room possible: Del E. Webb Foundation, Engelstad Family Foundation, NV Energy, and Speedway Children’s Charities.

“Sunrise Children’s Hospital is a community of caregivers who are dedicated to healing. It is encouraging to know that the Family Room is contributing to the healing of children because it allows parents and family to be close by at every step in the recovery process,” said Todd P. Sklamberg, CEO of Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and Sunrise Children’s Hospital. Sklamberg is President of the Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Las Vegas.
