Nevada Women’s Philanthropy Grants $500,000 to Ronald McDonald House

LAS VEGAS (May 16, 2022) – Nevada Women’s Philanthropy (NWP) members elected to grant $500,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas. It will use the funds to purchase a mobile care unit that will house a full-service dental care office on wheels.

“We are honored to welcome Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas to the NWP grant family,” NWP President Dawn Mack said. “We know it will serve a critical unmet need in our community for many years to come.”

According to Oral Health Nevada, only 37 percent of Nevada’s low-income children have had a dental visit and 20 percent have received dental service. More than 66,000 children are living without medical or dental insurance. The new Ronald McDonald Care Mobile unit will have a full-time dentist including dental technicians who will serve more than 1,200 children per year. The new unit will replace a 16-year-old care mobile that will be sent to the Elko, NV area.

“Ronald McDonald House Charities is incredibly excited and grateful to be the 2022 recipient of NWP’s Impact Grant for $500,000,” RMHC Chief Executive Officer Alyson McCarthy said. “These life-changing funds will enable our dedicated team of dental professionals to travel throughout Southern Nevada providing critical treatment to thousands of at-risk children from low-income families who currently don’t have access to quality dental care.”

The YMCA of Southern Nevada will receive a non-restricted $30,000 NWP Founders Gift.
