The Ronald McDonald Family Room®, located on the neonatal intensive care unit at Sunrise Children’s Hospital, is a place of respite for families sitting at their children’s bedsides. Family Room volunteers provide a welcoming face to families using the room. Duties include checking families in, giving tours of the room, performing simple administrative tasks, light housekeeping and keeping the kitchenette stocked.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room® is open 9:00am-9:00pm every day, with three, 4 hour shifts per day. A commitment of one, 4 hour shift per week for 6 months is requested. Click here for more information and to volunteer at the Family Room.
We love to decorate our 13,000-square foot House as well as our Family Room at Sunrise Children's Hospital for the many holidays throughout the year. Volunteer groups can help us by designing and creating fun, colorful decorations for our families to enjoy.
Groups must sign up to make decorations for a particular holiday (Valentine's Day, Easter, 4th of July, etc.), and provide enough decorations for all our common areas, including a large dining room, several sitting areas, as well as our Family Room. Groups are also encouraged to make additional decorations for our reception area, hallways and for our 12-bedroom doors. Click here to review our FAQs for this activity.
Once approved for a holiday, we will be relying on the group to provide the decorations, so please ensure your group is committed before signing up. Decorations should be delivered to the House by the date indicated in your confirmation email. Groups of up to eight people may come to the House (subject to approval) to place their decorations around the House. (2 hours max)

Cheer our families up with a colorfully decorated Caring Card! We love to include Caring Cards in the bags of goodies we give to families visiting our Family Room at Sunrise Children's Hospital, or attach them to bags of cookies for our families. Plus, we love to hand them out with cute toys we give to the children who visit the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. This activity is designed to be completed offsite. Just purchase a packet of 3x5 index cards, download our Caring Cards Decorating Guidelines, and begin to decorate! Check out this video that showcases some cool examples of decorated caring cards!

Collect the pull tabs from aluminum cans and containers and donate them to the Ronald McDonald House®. The tabs are made of a high-grade aluminum which we recycle - the proceeds then go directly to help families staying at the House. The program runs all year long and collected tabs may be dropped off at the Ronald McDonald House® any day from 9am-7pm. Click here to download the Pop Tab flyer and label to affix to your own container or stop by the House to pick up your free Pop Tab House.
We cannot certify community service hours for collecting pop-tabs.
