More than 5,000 Miles from Home
A Family Story

For Frederick and Magnus, surrogacy was not an option in their home country, so they came to the United States to make their family dream come true. While preparing for their New Year’s Eve party at their home in Sweden, they received news that their son Adrian was going to be born that night. After traveling for 35 hours on planes, trains, and cars, "We saw our little guy of 3 pounds in an incubator," shared Frederick. Adrian needed specialized care due to his prematurity and his dads were able to stay close by his side in the supportive environment at the Ronald McDonald House®.

In a new city, in an unfamiliar country, Adrian’s dads were able to find support, warmth, and consistency at Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) of Greater Las Vegas. A woman at their local church back in Sweden told them about RMHC and so they asked Adrian's hospital about RMHC. They shared their gratitude for shuttle and taxi rides, lunches, dinners prepared by volunteers, activities to participate in, other RMHC families they connected with, and even the friendly staff.
